  Building a projector is friggin' sexy. I have some engineering buddies that put one together over a weekend and they use it at parties to show music videos and stuff on. Very cool.

  he says $300 to build it, but if you search ebay you can find the screen material in some cases for as low as $20 for a 4'x9' screen and buy the frame materials from lowes or home depot for about $30.
