A bald eagle owes its life to the sharpshooting skills of an Iowa conservation officer. Though the bird has yet to offer any thanks, Jason Sandholdt is getting plenty of recognition from those who saw him use a single bullet last weekend to free the bird from a branch that hung over a cliff at Lake Red Rock.

He's my hero!! Way to go! I never had a rescue like that but this guy is good.

  Would be you to make the first comment! LOL
  My niece works with animals in the wild, rescue work etc.
  She is also a renown sharp shooter with hand gun and rifle.
  Guns do far more GOOD than harm. City folks have not a clue what farming and living in the wilds are all about.
  This story encouraged me to keep up my firearms abilities.

Nice story. But I doubt that you will find much anecdotal evidence to support your theorem. At least none that isn't related to the NRA. Sure, out in the wild, down on the farm, guns have a use. But once you move them into urban areas their use becomes limited and far more dangerous.

Nice Story! I live in a place in the world, at a certain time of the year when the salmon run up this river all the bald eagles gather and feed on the salmon after they have spawned and died. To see 15,000 bald eagles in one place is truly a sight to behold.

Great story,nice to hear a gun was used to save a creature or animal for once.
