Bear in mind, I am against the death penalty. BUT, if it exists, then it should apply for the scum of the earth: murderers, child rapists, and lawyers.

Although I agree that the crime of child rape is by far one of the most heinous when it involves children under age 13, I would argue that death is not an appropriate punishment. My fear is that when one tinkers with the machinery of death, society suffers. A civilized society need not execute criminals to remain civilized. Internment in a correctional facility for a lengthy sentence should provide sufficient time for the guilty to no longer pose a threat to the rest of the community.

Recidivism is 99% for child molesters. In fact, they offend an average of 75 times before their first conviction. At what point would you suggest these animals are "no longer a threat to the rest of the community?"

I have talked to professional therapists about sex offenders and it is well-known that they are incorrigible. You can't rehabilitate an adult sex offender. Two shots in the back of the head is the only effective therapy to ensure no recidivism.

The ACLU wouldn't allow it...they would take the stance where
a. it's the rapist's right of freedom of expression
b. the child was dressed provacatively
c. the child liked it
d. the rapist was 'sick' and, therefore, shouldn't be
punished for ruining someone's life
e. if the rapist takes a pill and goes to rehab, it's ok
to let him out - if he does it again, it's a 'relapse'
and he needs another pill
f. it's an expression of love towards the child
g. the child's pamper was a low-rider and enticed the
rapist
h. if he goes to prison, and 'bubba' packs his chocolate
for him, he just might enjoy it...
or...we could just kill the sicko...immediately....

That is NOT the position of the ACLU. They have steadfastly refused to protect MANBLA (man/boy love association) as well as any other group that advocates underage sex with minors and child porn. In fact, they are steadfastly against loosening the child rape laws and child porn laws.
The constitution protects the rights of ADULTS to porn, but not children. They take the side that children should be protected and adults prosecuted for crimes against them.
Further, rape is a feminist issue. The rape of women and girls far exceeds those of male on male.

I am a survivor of rape and I feel that the penalty should be death because they kill apart of these children a part that once taken can never be given back our childhood and innocence. Why should they be able to heal and rehabilitate when the kids and victims can heal but never brough back to life fully what was taken trust and a sense of security. I still deal everyday of my life with the aftermath of this situation. It affects every aspect of my life and my ability to love fully and without question. I always feel as if everyone has motives and that it is my job to figure out what they are before I am raped again.

Mean Mother, you are right about the fact that a huge number of children are raped each year. But the reality is, rape affects mostly women and girls. It is truly a heinous crime.

Hey I think this would be a great law, not very strict though.
14 or under, why not 100 or under...rape is rape. Is rape really so different from kidnapping? why shouldn't they die, rape will effect the victim for the rest of her life! I doubt they will get it to passed. An other idea would be mandatory castration along with a mandatory tattoo on the forehead reading: Baby Raper. It would defiantly deter others if they were on the edge of committing the same crime.

i think it should be up the the family of the victim or the victims thierselves to dish out the punishment.. the prisons have too many lifers and death row inmates now that the tax payer pays for... take them and kill them all.that way there is no chance of them repeating thier offenses.
